Synopsis
1v1, both virgins, second chance romance, long-planned scheme, groveling for a second chance (with fake replacement tropes)
Wen Yao returned to the country to help a senior from college. She had no plans to stay long,
not because she didn't want to, but because she didn't dare.
As she prepared to leave after finishing the job, she heard a rumor:
Liang Chenyan was getting married.
Liang Chenyan, impossibly handsome and born with a silver spoon in his mouth, was now the head of the top-tier Liang family. Whether in high society or in his private life, he was decisive and used to getting his way.
He was going to marry the Bai family's heiress, the woman who had given him an adorable daughter.
Leaving Wen Yao, that stain on his past, behind and marrying the child's mother was only right.
Back then, Wen Yao had used shameless means to become Liang Chenyan's substitute. When she was exposed and left, she was every bit as humiliated.
She couldn't help wondering: when he tucked his daughter in each night, did he ever remember that they, too, had once had a child?
Sadly, that baby died just days after being born.
*
At first, Wen Yao only wanted to sneak a glance at Liang Chenyan's daughter, then leave. She had no other intentions.
Her friend said they'd figure something out, but Wen Yao never expected their solution to be for her to become Liang Chenyan's daughter's nanny by accident.
Wen Yao was afraid of running into him. Things had ended so horribly between them, and if Liang Chenyan found out she was back, she feared he might kill her.
Fortunately, she heard that Liang Chenyan was taking his fiancée abroad for a vacation to make her happy.
The temporary nanny job wasn't as hard as Wen Yao had imagined.
Everything was fine, except for one thing: the bathroom was completely transparent. After several days there, she still couldn't get used to using it.
Wen Yao soon started having second thoughts.
Although Liang Chenyan was overseas, he still video-called his daughter. Wen Yao was terrified of being found out.
The night she was supposed to hand things over to her friend and leave, a sudden downpour hit Jing City, and the power went out without warning.
Wen Yao was forced to stay through that stormy night.
The darkness made her restless and uneasy. She stared at the neon lights outside and decided to brave the rain and leave.
Before she could reach the doorknob, a tall shadow fell over her, forcing her into a corner.
A scorching hand traveled up from Wen Yao's waist, then gripped her chin and forced her to tilt her head back.
Her vulnerable neck was offered up like choice prey. The voice by her ear was as familiar as if it had been carved into her bones. He had used that voice to coax her again and again through countless steamy, tender nights. Now all tenderness was gone, leaving only casual malice:
"Where do you think you're going?"
*
Liang Chenyan's scheming began before Wen Yao returned to the country.
That lying woman had rushed back, just as he'd expected, for the sake of her old lover.
Now that the rabbit was in the trap, there was no chance of escape.
Reader's guide:
1. Both leads are virgins; happy ending. A strong male lead and weak female lead, written to my tastes. It's hard to guess who gave birth to the child (*╹▽╹*)
2. Includes the male lead scheming, the female lead pursuing the male lead, the female lead giving up, and the male lead groveling to win her back. Don't read if that's not your thing. Neither lead is morally perfect. The female lead is not a substitute. The male lead is a scumbag but charming, with eight hundred tricks up his sleeve, but he is completely devoted to the female lead in both body and heart.
3. The marriage-before-love tag is because the leads truly fall in love after they get married.
4. The outline is set. Please don't send writing advice.
