Expressing My Heart: Where Have You Gone, Abandoning Me in the Long Night?
Tang Dynasty, Gu Xiong
Where have you gone, abandoning me in the long night? No word from you. The fragrant chamber is shut, my brows knit, and the moon is sinking. How can I bear not to seek you out? I resent this lonely bed. If you would change your heart for mine, you'd know how deeply I miss you.
After countless hardships and tribulations, he finally returned, wanting only to hear her say she regretted it. That would be enough to fulfill his wish.
But all he got was her stubborn reply: "I will never say I regret it."
The word "regret" seemed so light, so light that she wanted to say it to him every moment,
yet it was heavier than a mountain, and whenever it reached her lips, she could no longer bring herself to speak.
How could I let you have your wish so easily, only to leave me?
Even though she regretted it in her heart, she would never say so aloud.
This story is included in the multi-author short story collection I Have Longing in the Flourishing Tang, scheduled for release in late March 2017.
Theme:
The novel is not long, but the story is very exciting. I believe that Yingxue does not deserve this. She has been shouldering the mission of home and city before. Even though she seems to be so willful, she does not abandon her identity as the Young City Lord willfully. In the end, fortunately, Yueting protects her, loves her, and understands her. Confess to Yishui, I really like Yishui's writing, the character's psychology, demeanor, and environment are described very well (?▽?)
The heroine really deserves it, but the hero is still dead set. It would be nice if the people who killed an entire city are not dead.
