Moon Palace: The Rabbit's Tale

A love story about a Jade Rabbit.

The moon hangs cool, its light falling on the western window. Lamps dim, smoke and fire stretch into the night. In whose home does a celestial maiden wake from her dream, leaning against the window to gaze out?

Purple silk quilts, vermilion doors. The pale moon and the Milky Way face each other across the waters. Who can forget the ten thousand feet of earthly splendor? Who has never drunk the soup of Granny Meng?

Author's note

A silly story I wrote in seventh grade, more than ten years ago. I'm just putting it here to stake a claim.

It is so, so silly, so please don't laugh at me! It's a brainless Mary Sue story, non-mainstream in the truest sense, and incredibly cheesy.

I must have had way too much free time. There were so many typos in this story that I came to fix them, but every time I read it, I cringe. Damn, how could I have been such a doofus back then? Such a doofus, such a doofus! Aaaah!

But I have to say, the poems and classical lines I wrote back then had a real spark. Much more than anything I write now.

Theme: Love and distance.
