He Doesn't Know

Summer, soda, basketball.

A boy, a report card, an arm slung over someone's shoulder.

The day I realized I liked Chen Xu, I bought a new notebook and decided to keep a diary.

What should I write about? The person I like, and myself, too.

This little thing, my love for Chen Xu:

The spring breeze knows, the autumn rain knows, and so does the parasol tree by the classroom, witness to all the times I've imagined confessing to him.

Only he doesn't know. He never will.

Because I like you.

I want to become a really, really wonderful person.

[Content warnings:]

1. First-person narration, a diary-like account of a girl's secret crush.

2. I want to write a story about a dazzling adolescence.

Theme: Always love yourself most.
