A Thousand Lifetimes: The Heavenly Balance Arc

There is a legend in this world. Its previous life was called “Heaven Above,” and its present life is called “The World Below.”

“Heaven Above” is ruled by the gods of the upper realm. “The World Below” is ruled by the people of the lower realm.

It is said that there are no people in “Heaven Above,” and no gods in “The World Below.”

At last, Daoist Master Sang Lin of Lone Soul Island agrees to let Hu Xi and Fu Ruoyi leave the island, though it remains uncertain whether this will bring them good fortune or disaster. Following the path of their two senior brothers, the pair seem to have stepped out of an otherworldly realm and into the mortal world. Nangong Renshu, who can hold his own; Nangong Haoshu, who idles his days away; Qin Louyue, burdened with tangled regrets; the young prodigy Liu Yuye; the laid-back, carefree lord of Litian; the bewitchingly beautiful and cold master of Snow House; the refined and understated young master of the Tea family; the flourishing Xiyou Valley; and a mysterious figure who appears and vanishes without a trace... One by one, they cross their paths by chance, carrying with them a past they never noticed. Scene after scene unfolds like a painted scroll, stretching into an unknowable future.

Disaster follows disaster; people part and reunite, live and die. Could it all be the delicate closing notes of a myth?

In this lifetime called “The World Below,” when people have already recorded divine miracles in ancient texts, nine paths descend from the heavens. It turns out that Heaven Above and the World Below exist within a single lifetime, a single thought, a single instant.
