Ming Lou X Rong Shi: Life Is a Play

Ming Lou and Rong Shi met by chance. At the time, Rong Shi was a captain, while Ming Lou was a passionate student. They met, came to understand each other, and fell in love.

Ming Lou and Rong Shi's breakup was just as coincidental. The Rong and Ming families came into conflict over a business deal. The Rong family's business had ties to the underworld, so they naturally considered some shady tactics. They only meant to make the Ming family back down, but accidentally caused Ming Lou's mother to die. Before his death, Ming Ruidong left instructions that for three generations, the Ming family must not marry into, ally with, or be neighbors with the Rong family.

Ming Lou and Rong Shi's parting was pure melodrama. Ming Lou's new education taught him that none of this had anything to do with Rong Shi, but his eldest sister, who had just taken charge of the Ming family, had killed Rong Shi's parents. Ming Lou went home to confront his sister, only for Ming Jing to beat him so badly he couldn't get out of bed for a month. At the same time, Rong Shi received Ming Lou's bloodstained clothes and news of his parents' deaths at the military camp. The next day, he processed his discharge papers. A week later, he went straight back to Chengde without seeing Ming Lou even once. A month later, Ming Jing sent Ming Lou to France, and the two parted ways.

Ming Lou and Rong Shi's reunion can only be called fate's cruel joke. As the head of the CCP underground in Shanghai, Ming Lou was suddenly assigned a partner by his superiors. They told him that he would handle intelligence from then on, while operations would be handled by someone codenamed Black Fox. Ming Lou didn't think much of it, hoping only that his partner wouldn't be someone who never got anything done. But A Cheng, sent to make contact, told him that Black Fox was none other than Rong Shi.

Ming Lou: “What kind of damn plot is this?”
