[Su Jing / Shu Yan] The Fairy Tale That Flowed Against the Current

Ever since Linlin Jiang and Qiqi Gege disappeared, it has always snowed in Jinling City. Large, feathery flakes landed on Yanyan's brow, then melted into tiny droplets that trickled down from the corners of his eyes. Dressed in a coat with a fluffy collar, Yanyan looked at the dark eaves and the white falling snow and thought: Yes, the brightest boy is gone, so of course the world that was once full of color has turned black and white. Yanyan missed Linlin Jiang in this colorless world until Susu appeared.

To thank Jing Mama for the snack box, Susu always brought a little gift whenever she visited the Eastern Palace. Sometimes it was a sprig of white plum blossom, its buds just about to open; sometimes a pot of fragrant green tea; sometimes a string of tinkling wind chimes; sometimes a cozy, adorable fairy tale. Susu also told Yanyan all sorts of interesting stories. For instance, the wizard Chenchen once conjured a peacock tail on Feifei the little guard's backside, and Feifei the little guard got his revenge by dumping a basin of water on the wizard while he slept, freezing him into a popsicle. The stories made Yanyan laugh like a clanging bell, and the world gradually grew colorful again.

Yanyan once asked Susu why she had chosen to help him, and why she was so good to him. He was so poor that, apart from a large pearl, he had nothing else worthy of giving as a reward.

Susu smiled and said it was because she admired His Highness Yanyan's peerless charm.
