The official history records:
The Crown Prince Jingmu of Dayu was peerless in intelligence, unmatched in strategy, and utterly ruthless, never softening his heart in the slightest. After ruling for over a decade, he was half the emperor of Dayu and the king in the hearts of the people.
That year, Crown Prince Jingmu angrily rejected a hundred petitions from the Censorate, forcefully overruled the deliberations of the two ministries and six bureaus, and still refused to marry the daughter of the surrendering general, the Xu family.
That year, the Xu family rebelled against their new ruler once more, yet Crown Prince Jingmu risked the world's condemnation to revise the history books three times, restore the Xu clan's good name, and welcome the Xu daughter as his bride with the most lavish betrothal gifts. The world marveled.
That year, Crown Prince Jingmu ascended the throne and made the Xu daughter his empress. Thus began an imperial romance for the ages.
Yet people all wondered: why did this Xu daughter look so much like the little strategist in the Crown Prince of Dayu's estate...?
The unofficial histories, however, record:
The daughter of the surrendering general, the Xu family, had died long ago and never lived to be crowned empress. To drive off the enemy troops, she was subjected to an agonizing execution by the rebel king and nailed to the city wall for three days. In doing so, she preserved the Xu family's honor and secured the splendid empire of Crown Prince Jingmu.
Thus, of the three prophecies Master Huipu made in his lifetime, the last one never came true.
That sweeping romance between the emperor and empress, entwined with power and intrigue and bound by life and death, gave rise to a glorious age of prosperity.
"I was the daughter of the surrendering general, the Xu family, but my name was Nianhua. He once said, 'The years are as beautiful as brocade,' so I kept that name for the rest of my life."
Pre-release: The Top Scholar Is a Villain
The top scholar is a villain, but the Empress chooses him as her consort. This leaves her ministers tearing their hair out, afraid that their empress has become blinded by love.
One day, the Empress and the top scholar wake up in the same bed.
The Empress remarks, "I took the throne when I was young and fought plenty of wicked ministers. You certainly held out longer than any of them."
The top scholar touches the delicate bite marks covering his neck, his face turning livid. "Did Your Majesty subdue them this way, too?"
The Empress stares at him. "Of course not! They were all old men. In all these years, you're the only young and promising one."
From that day on, the top scholar turns over a new leaf and vows to become a loyal minister.
The ministers rejoice, thinking, Our Empress is still our Empress. What a masterful move!
But then, one day, everything suddenly changes. The top scholar comes to court with a long sword in hand, his presence terrifying.
"Your Majesty has never truly cared for me. The three ministries urged you to choose a consort, and you merely used the opportunity to subdue me."
The Empress looks at the sword and swallows. "Actually, my dear minister... there's one more reason."
"What is it?" A glimmer of hope appears in the top scholar's eyes.
"Out of all the officials in court, you're the best-looking."
The top scholar spits blood and storms off. From then on, he goes further and further down the path of villainy, throwing the capital into chaos.
The ministers are horrified and send memorials to the Empress, begging her to go back to being lovestruck.
The Empress has no choice. With her belly swollen, she runs to the top scholar and pleads, "How about you wait until the baby's born before turning villain? It's not like a little while longer will make a difference."
The highest level of an empress's struggle against powerful ministers: give him a child to be the crown prince, and see if he still rebels.

Xie Ru was born into a family with four hundred years of spotless renown and unwavering loyalty, yet she grew up to become a treacherous villain.
In her life, she allied herself with the powerful, served two masters, colluded with foreign enemies, and deposed the emperor. She once thrust a sharp sword into the grand plaque in the Hall of Supreme Harmony and declared her defiance to the world: "The Xie clan's four hundred years of loyalty was never blind obedience. If this emperor is not doing the job well, then why not let someone else take his place?"
The road to becoming a great villain was difficult, until one day she met a dashing, easygoing general who had never lost a battle.
During the Changjing coup, the general raced a thousand miles to intercept her by the Miluo River, where she was in the middle of poisoning her own younger brother.
During a hunt on Mount Dufeng, the general traveled all the way south and found her in a maple grove, leading a band of assassins on some grand scheme.
At the autumn tea banquet in Chaohai, the general met a friend late at night and found her setting fire to the friend's ancestral hall.
The general was speechless. "Can't you at least avoid me when you're killing people and setting things on fire?"
She replied, "Do you think you're the King of Hell or something? You sure like sticking your nose into everything."
Later, the King of Hell left them alone, but the Matchmaker intervened.
But Xie Ru was like a dog returning to its vomit. When the general raised an army to vie for the empire amid the struggle for supremacy, she betrayed him again. She married a young master of the upright and proper Xun clan of Qinghe, arriving in an eight-person sedan chair with a ten-mile bridal procession.
But on her wedding night, she froze.
The refined, elegant young man before her, waving a white jade fan carved from bone, looked exactly like the general she held dear. Was she seeing things?
The groom flicked his fan and raised an amused brow. "Didn't expect this, did you? I've got a secret identity!"

Diving to the end, I can't help but bubbling This article is so wonderful!
It's not enjoyable to watch, there are too few emotional lines, most of them are about how the male protagonist maintains his power, the two of them are flirting together for a few words, and the more the two of them are together, the less emotional scenes they have.
I like it very much. If the back is a little plumper, it would be perfect.
It looks good. Cheers to the author. Thanks for the limited fee.
It's so cruel to the heroine, who died so miserably in her previous life.
Why are the codes so garbled? It's such a mess.
I cried so much that I burst into tears...
Recent new articles have been bad, and there have been a lot of blows. I don't know what went wrong, and it once bruised Da Da's fragile heart as a writer. Can the old angels of old articles give me some advice? Sigh╯╰I feel like not many angels will see the message after it ends.
That one, the young master walked shyly against the door for two days to unlock it. The story of Xiao Jin'er is published separately and together with the young master.
After reading the whole book, I can summarize in one sentence: If you don't do it, you won't die. But the process is still interesting. It's the first time I spent money to read a book, so it's good.
