She's a native of this world, and the story is very self-indulgent, so if that's not your thing, please make your escape through the emergency exit in the upper right corner.
The hero is none other than the godly Abe no Seimei.
Please don't mind the fact that the heroine was born in 680 and the hero in 921 (hey!). And please don't mind the heroine's age during her reign either (hey, hey!).
No logic, everyone is out of character (how can you romance the godly hero if he's in character?), pure wish fulfillment.
An added note on the flower-coughing illness: A person who has a crush on someone will cough up flower petals when they speak. If the person they love doesn't realize their feelings, they'll die soon afterward. The cure is to kiss the person they love (according to Wikipedia).
The author has neither watched Shonen Onmyoji nor played the mobile game. I was simply persuaded by a whole pile of Onmyoji fanworks and couldn't resist writing a story to romance the godly hero, hehe.
