Zhang Yutang was once an incense-gathering attendant in the Upper Realm. One day, as he passed through the sky, he saw a little green snake playing freely beside West Lake, unconstrained and carefree, its emerald scales lovely and its colors bright. Without thinking, he smiled. At once, thoughts of the mortal world stirred in him. He was later exposed, and the Jade Emperor banished him to the human realm, where he was reborn into the Zhang family.
