Youth can be a dream.
If it's a nightmare, the only way out is to wake up.
But some kinds of youth just can't be woken from.
In 2008, on the eve of the college entrance exams, Chen Jiaxuan, a gifted student at A High School, changes dramatically after his parents' marriage falls apart. He meets Jin Jiali, a girl mixed up with trouble; Lu Mo, pure and lovely; and Zhong Yi, an arrogant rich kid. Together, they act out a youth that's bittersweet in its own way.
Love and friendship are impossible to balance. The young stumble back and forth through a maze, and before they've had time to untangle their relationships, fate hurls a ticking time bomb at them: Chen Rui, a gloomy, beautiful boy who arrives bearing a grudge against Jiaxuan.
If youth can't be woken from, it is bound to be a heavy burden. Even so, they must carry their countless memories as they set out on a new journey.
Countless coincidences make their lives seem inevitable. The youth they couldn't wake from will eventually pass. Though it brought them endless pain, they still look back on it fondly.
