It was the summer of 1997. My father and I drove for more than three hours to reach the unfamiliar yet familiar school where I would spend the next three years. I'll never forget the school gates: an enlarged version of Tsinghua University's gates. I'd never seen Tsinghua, but here I saw a gate even grander than theirs. I walked through it, ignorant and uncertain about what tomorrow would bring. I never imagined it would become the most important stop in my life, bringing me sorrow and joy, pain and happiness. From then on, everything in my life would be bound up with it.
