On April 9, LM30, in the Earth Alliance calendar, a virus officially named "WHCH1069SD711" broke out, turning several major cities into cities of death.
On April 19 of the same year, a dead star ten light-years from Earth exploded. The last of its energy pushed through layers of cosmic dust and rushed toward the solar system.
Perhaps it was only a coincidence.
--Excerpt from "Cosmic Coincidences"
The dead star's eruption lasted six months by Earth's calendar. So, ten years after it erupted, Earth's "red sun" also lasted for six months.
If anyone who witnessed the "red sun" was lucky enough to still be alive, they would tell you that for those six months, every sun they saw was red, blood-red. And the sky was black.
--Excerpt from "An Account of the Red Sun"
After the dead star's energy reached Earth, the planet's natural environment underwent drastic changes. According to the usual course of evolution, humanity might have gone extinct like the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. But thanks to the "WHCH1069SD711" virus, humans adapted to the changed environment, developed "supernatural abilities," and ultimately survived on Earth.
