[HC/EC] Black Abyss

A post-X-Men: Apocalypse fanfic.

There's a storyline in Blizzard's Diablo II in which Prince Albrecht and his companions defeat Diablo, then embed Diablo's Soulstone in Albrecht's forehead, intending to suppress Diablo forever. But Diablo quickly begins to corrupt him.

Tal Rasha, leader of the Horadrim mages, defeats the demon Baal and uses his own body as Baal's prison. He embeds the Soulstone containing the soul of the Lord of Destruction into his body, fighting Baal for all eternity. As time passes, Tal Rasha is corrupted completely.

Thinking back to the X-Men movie, when Apocalypse is blasted to pieces by the Phoenix, his consciousness is still connected to Charles. What if part of him survives, lying dormant in Charles's mind...

That could be a little compelling!

Warnings:

1. Inspired by Blizzard's games, with a small amount of Diablo II backstory. You can still follow along if you haven't played it.

2. Apocalypse returns. The plot may not be all fun and games, and there will be a Professor who isn't quite so professorial.

3. There will be both HC and EC ships, but I'm a lazy fish who can't write smut, so it'll very likely be more teasing than anything. Readers looking for a romance or expecting to board the smut train may be disappointed.

4. The setting mostly follows my previous HC fic, For Everything.
