In another world, in Calradia, as the Kingdom of Swadia faced its fall, two brothers swore to die for their country. But through a twist of fate, they were captured and sold as slaves to another continent: Valendar. On this medieval continent of swords and magic, the imperial family schemed to strengthen the emperor's authority; barbarians headed south in search of survival; ambitious highland lords had long resented imperial rule; the Church yearned to restore a theocratic regime; restless mercenary bands thirsted for revenge; and bloodthirsty pirates were poised to strike... In this game of power, one faction rises as another falls. The two brothers are swept up in the struggle, fighting for their lives as they lament their helplessness, unaware that a shadow is quietly gathering...
