Love and Hate Untangled, Life and Death Understood

Story Background:

According to Records of Searching for Spirits, the Jade Emperor of the Heavenly Court had seven daughters. The seventh princess, Zi'er, secretly descended to the mortal world and met the mortal Dong Yong by Fairy Maiden Lake in Jiangxi. They fell in love at first sight, and she was later moved by his filial devotion. The two were devoted to each other and secretly became husband and wife. When the Heavenly Court found out, it seized the seventh princess and imprisoned her. Dong Yong tried every means to reach the Heavenly Court and rescue her. Their true love moved the immortals, who stripped the seventh princess of her immortal bones and banished her to the mortal world. At last, she and Dong Yong were able to be together again.

The third princess, Huang'er, is Zi'er's elder sister. Huang'er is the incarnation of the Yellow Heaven's Mysterious Jade, the radiant essence of the immortal maidens, and a pillar of justice in the Heavenly Court. In Journey to the West, she is known as the Immortal Maiden in Black. She is a source of righteousness, courage, and strength.

Jin Zha is the eldest son of Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King Li Jing. He has two younger brothers, Mu Zha and Ne Zha. Jin Zha's prototype is the Buddhist bodhisattva Vajrayaksa, an important deity in esoteric Buddhism. In this novel, Jin Zha is the guardian deity of the Heavenly Court's Golden Spear Pavilion. He is accomplished in both civil and military affairs, devoted to his duty, filial and loyal, and renowned throughout the Heavenly Court. His master is the Qilin Disciple of Kunlun Mountain.

Here's an acrostic poem I wrote on a whim...

Huang's gauzy sleeves sweep across the azure sky,

As a child, I knew the truth, though I had never seen it.

Jin's spear cannot sever the bonds of love,

His shouts shake heaven and earth, his heart's resolve within.

P.S. I was planning to finish this quickly and start a new project, so I steeled myself and switched to daily updates... I! Said! I! Wouldn't! Abandon! It! And! I! Won't!!! [serious face]... Anyway, I'm finally picking up a project I abandoned three years ago, but I've discovered my writing hasn't improved at all in those three years. Ahem, that's all...
