Jiang Lian, young master of the Qianmian Sect, was a sickly beauty. He died at the hands of his own bodyguard.
Only before his death did he learn that someone in the sect wanted him dead.
He died consumed by resentment and bitterness.
But he never expected that when he opened his eyes again, he would be reborn several months before his death.
A voice sounded in his ear: [I'm Xiao Ba. Welcome to the Beauty System!]
Jiang Lian: "..."
What is this thing?
Xiao Ba: [Why is this ancient times? Help, I bound myself to the wrong person.]
At first, Jiang Lian thought the System was completely useless. Gradually, though, he discovered that it seemed to help a little with his disguise skills.
Foundation, lipstick, eyebrow pencil.
Wigs, latex, wax.
And... makeup transformation experience cards?
Jiang Lian found a new use for the Beauty System.
Jiang Lian: "I will become the greatest master of disguise in the world."
Xiao Ba: [A master of what? What kind of master? A master of disguises?]
Bound to Jiang Lian, Xiao Ba found itself in danger time and again.
Xiao Ba said tearfully: [I come from a peaceful era. Your martial arts world is so dangerous!]
[Host, we also have a romance side quest. Would you like to accept it?]
Jiang Lian refused without a change of expression. "Heh. No need."
Then Jiang Lian met Cui Jingyi, the peerless swordsman of astonishing talent from his previous life.
After an accident, Jiang Lian and Cui Jingyi were both struck by a love-afflicting Gu, filling them with an overwhelming love for each other.
The love poison was fierce. A single day apart drove them mad with longing.
[Uh, a classic ancient-style love Gu bringing them together?]
[Host has experienced a flutter of the heart!]
[Host has experienced a second flutter of the heart!]
[Host's heart rate has exceeded 100 beats per minute!]
Jiang Lian: "...Shut up, Xiao Ba."
Additional notes:
1. Jiang Lian is the shou, and Cui Jingyi is the gong. The story focuses on the shou.
2. The worldbuilding is wildly imaginative. Everything from martial arts inner energy to Gu poison and hidden weapons is highly unscientific.
3. Xiao Ba is a Beauty System. It can't grant Jiang Lian cheats like peerless martial arts.
4. Although Jiang Lian is a master of disguise, he won't be in disguise every day.
5. More notes to come.
Theme: Amid the turmoil of the martial world, stay true to yourself.
