Gu Huaizuo is the young head of the Gu family of Shuojin. He is refined and aloof, with a faint little mole beneath his eye.
In Shuojin, a city of powerful families, the Gu family holds a position of prominence beyond the reach of ordinary people. Gu Huaizuo himself is a heaven-blessed prodigy, cool and self-possessed, with not a hint of scandal attached to his name.
Later, to break up his third uncle and Jiang Nuan, Gu Huaizuo quietly laid his plans, racking his brains over every detail.
At an age when he had no particular desire to marry, Gu Huaizuo went ahead and married Jiang Nuan.
Outsiders thought they were witnessing a joke at the expense of the powerful: a nephew competing with his uncle out of jealousy and stealing the uncle's woman.
Only Gu Huaizuo knew the truth: who had really stolen whose woman.
A childhood friend who can even survive a rival who appears out of nowhere, and still gets called a childhood friend?
2.
What's it like to marry your moonlight? Jiang Nuan couldn't answer, and didn't dare tell anyone. After all, she thought her marriage to Gu Huaizuo wouldn't last long and would probably end in an ugly mess.
To avoid the humiliating scene that had happened when she broke up with Gu Jue, Jiang Nuan had already planned how to make a dignified exit when they divorced.
Keep it secret. It was better for both of them.
After their marriage, Gu Huaizuo wore his wedding ring properly on his long, elegant ring finger.
Jiang Nuan's excuse: Wearing a ring will ruin my imagination. The diamond is too big and flashy.
Then one day, she went out of town for work.
On a mountain in the pouring rain, she was burning with fever. When darkness fell, Jiang Nuan discovered that the man had come from a thousand miles away and was standing outside the door. She looked up, and found herself in his arms.
Gu Huaizuo must have come all this way for me. For the first time, Jiang Nuan felt this thought with such force.
Seeing that he truly wanted to treat her well, Jiang Nuan decided to make peace with him.
They would make a good life together.
Much later, she heard someone else tell their story, in a different version.
"Who hasn't been young? He went mad trying to grow into the man worthy of the girl he loved, but the girl had never planned to wait for him."
"So the young man decided to skip the formalities and made himself the girl's husband instead."

The nephew wins the contest against his uncle. (Don't ask. I just like younger men.)
Blurb:
Shen Mianxing had been with Ji Mingzhou for two years.
For those three years, she kept her emotions in check, acted gentle and considerate, and made herself available whenever he called, letting him order her around.
Shen Mianxing thought that if she kept her head down, behaved herself, and did as she was told, Ji Mingzhou would marry her.
That was until Ji Mingzhou handed her over to another man in exchange for a contract.
Shen Mianxing begged him not to do it.
Ji Mingzhou gently cupped her face. "Xingxing, this contract is very important to the company. Be good and listen to me."
It felt as if Shen Mianxing were seeing the man in front of her for the first time. Her heart turned to ashes.
She injured someone, fled the hotel, and stumbled into the rain in the middle of the night.
The little figure trembled as wind and rain lashed her. With nowhere to go, Shen Mianxing curled up beneath a tree.
A car drove past, its tires rolling through a puddle and splashing water all over her, making her look even more wretched.
The cold water made Shen Mianxing shiver. She looked up at the car as it pulled over.
The man opened an umbrella and walked beneath the tree. His expression was as distant and indistinct as mist, his bearing noble and cool. His thin lips parted. "Auntie, do you like hiding here to cry?"
Shen Mianxing's lips had turned purple with cold. She warily looked at the man holding the umbrella over her. He was Ji Mingzhou's nephew.
"You're so well-behaved. You should be lying in my arms, smiling." He reached out to Shen Mianxing.
Shen Mianxing's expression changed. Terrified, she took off running like a rain-soaked rabbit, fleeing without knowing where she was going.
But the man grabbed her and tossed her into the car.
"Why are you running?" He seized her hand and forcefully pinned her down on the back seat.
Shen Mianxing couldn't break free. Her eyes red with tears, she choked out, "Don't do this."
Compared to Ji Mingzhou, his nephew Ji Fan was the truly troublesome one.
