All things have spirits. I still remember reading An Account of Xiangji Pavilion years ago: "In the courtyard stands a loquat tree, planted by my wife the year she died. Now it has grown tall and broad, like a canopy." That one sentence alone fills me with such melancholy. If her soul were to return, she would surely take shelter in the loquat tree and gaze from afar at the old southern study where she and her husband once sat side by side, learning to write. The feelings left unspoken, the words never said, the stories forgotten by time... Perhaps some object has recorded them all, waiting for someone destined to find it.
Couple: Xie Yi x Jiang Heng. Sorry, another character surnamed Xie, and the names sound alike. But I came up with this story's premise much earlier. Xie Yi means to bring joy. Jiang Heng's courtesy name is Ziheng.
Also known as My Boyfriend's Every Collectible Has a Story to Tell. It is about Xie Yi, an apprentice monk raised from childhood by a senior monk at a temple. To avenge his master, he ultimately gives up ordination, leaves the ancient temple, and ventures into the human world, where he encounters all sorts of strange things. His boyfriend, Jiang Heng, is connected to one of them.
Notes:
1. I already have two stories I dug myself into and am struggling to finish, but I couldn't resist digging another hole. I'll let everyone have a look at the blurb first, then try to build up a stock of chapters in my spare time. It may take a long while →_→
2. The title was adapted from Records of the Natural World. Before posting the blurb, I searched online for the title Records of Strange Things and it seemed a Qidian author had already used it. I haven't read anything on Qidian, so I don't know if they're a big name. In any case, I can't think of anything more fitting for now.
3. The story consists of ten tales: Shuriken, Life-Guarding Bone, Exquisite Heart, Mermaid's Tears, Longevity Token, Book of Life and Death, Fire in Wood, He Shi's Jade, Stupa of Relics, and A Thousand Pieces of Gold.
