This story came from a dream of mine, just a dream. I only wanted to write it down.
A few months ago, I had a strange dream. Because of it, I went to the border between Beijing and Hebei to see the abandoned residence of a prince, a place so desolate it chilled me to the bone. There was nothing there, only traces of what remained. For some reason, I couldn't stop crying. After I came back, I had the same dream again, so I decided to write it down.
This is my first time writing this kind of story, so it's rough around the edges. I'm still feeling my way through it. I'll try to keep it as true to history as possible. I've never been very fond of Qing dynasty history; I always felt that, one way or another, it brought about a regression. But I know perfectly well that it was simply the course history took.
He said softly, “Once I take your hand, I won't let go.”
He spoke as if it were nothing, yet his resolve made my heart ache.
I didn't know who he was. In my dream, I could only reply, “Your Highness.”
He said, “Call me Xiang”…
I woke with tears on my face, overwhelmed by grief I couldn't control. Who was he? Who was he really? I was confused.
That day, you stood on the bridge, smiling at me without a word. I stood beside you, returning your smile with one as bright as flowers. We were so close, so why did we feel so far apart?
If being a prince was your fate, then being a dragon's son must have been ordained by heaven.
“Please let me go.” I looked at you with determination. Your eyes held a sorrow you couldn't put into words, but all you said was, quietly, “Once I take your hand, I won't let go.”
Did you ever truly see the path I've traveled all this way...?
It was your guidance that brought me here.
Standing where you rest, I cried so hard I couldn't stop. Who are you, and who am I? Why am I so heartbroken? Why have you made me suffer so much? Don't tell me you don't know.
The ruined scenery speaks of the splendor this place once knew, but I can't see any of it. I can only imagine it, like a memory I hold on to.
“We can't be together anyway. So, I love you.”
We are bound by a connection from a previous life. They say there are past lives and present ones. Perhaps his refusal to let go in this life is the hope he's carried for hundreds of years.
To me, he belongs to a past life. We're separated by two different worlds, and we can't be together. So, I love him.
Perhaps I owe him something: hundreds of years of waiting.
I am heartless. I suppose I must have been the same in my previous life.
No matter who asks me, no matter how tender their eyes, if they ask, “Will you wait for me at the Bridge of Helplessness?”
I always turn away and say, “No,” with a firmness that chills them.
And yet I always find myself asking, “If I get lost, will you come back for me?”
I can't remember who once answered, “Stay where you are. I'll find you for sure.” I think that must have been him.
We must have missed each other like that: he kept searching, while I went on reincarnating, over and over.
I never imagined the memories could be so vivid, so persistent.
In this life, I love lotus flowers to the point of obsession.
When I suddenly saw the weathered lotus carvings on the archway at the sacred way, I don't know why, but my heart began to ache, so badly that my eyes hurt…

If you expect a perfect, melancholy, or even gloriously abnormal 13, then I'm sorry, but I'll disappoint anyone who likes that kind of 13.
I can't write, and wouldn't know how to write, a 13 who is openhearted, great, devoted, chivalrous, and so beautiful and ideal that everyone would admire and love them.
If you can't accept that, please leave!
This story follows the historical timeline, and the main plot largely recreates actual history.
If that's not for you, please move along. Just click the X in the upper-right corner.
Thank you!
This story is published exclusively on Jinjiang. Please don't repost it. Thank you!
Also: Some parts of this story draw on historical facts, which I'll gradually note in each chapter.

A powerful story about a lively little child.
Li Mao Xian Xian's story pit. If you want to jump in, I won't stop you.
A classic story, with a totally badass person and a totally badass plot.
Even a “blockhead” can take the world by storm~
Theme:
Although the 13 here is not exactly the 13 in my mind, I still like it. On the other hand, I don't like the character of the heroine very much. It's that kind of indifferent and non-argument, which sometimes makes people speechless. Whether in real life or in novels, I don't like this kind of unwillingness to talk about anything. She seems to be indifferent, but in fact, she takes it as she wants, but the result is often a series of misunderstandings that cannot be solved.
I finally finished reading it, and I felt very good. I had a faint feeling of wanting to stay out of the situation, but after completing the mission, I felt helpless because of all the ties. I always feel that the heroine might be happy if she is with Lao Jiu. But there are many choices in life, and they may not be the best, but they are regret-free.
Ouch, fortunately, I ran to check again and found that it was updated! I'm very happy for you to see a new long review written with so much care!
It took me two days to finally finish reading it.
The 13 in my heart is not like this, but I was still moved by such a story and shed tears. The author replied:
thank you
Why did it end like this? I feel so reluctant and helpless. When the article is not over, I look forward to finishing it early so that I can see the ending. But when I finish this article, I think again, in fact, looking forward to updating every week is a kind of happiness (⊙ o ⊙)! Author's reply:
Thank you for your continued support
Spread the flowers! I didn't expect to see a big extra after the ending.
After reading your article, I burst into tears and chuckled again. Love is really amazing.
There will be a side story of Jiujiu next, right? ^_^ It would be great to come back, it would be great to come back.
Before going to bed, I logged into JJ and found an update. I thought it might be a major revision of the article, but I couldn't help but click on it and take a look. Haha, I was really surprised.
Although it's a little late, I still wish you a happy Dragon Boat Festival:)
Everything seems like fate. Fate and everyone's destiny seem to have been determined long ago. No matter what the process is, the result will not change. Fortunately, all the characters in the article are very transparent.
I love you and it has nothing to do with you. You are not wrong, you just don't love me.
I would still feel helpless and regretful after saying this.

Morning of May 20, 2009
This is the time it took me to finish reading the author's book. I finally finished it.
When I found this book, I read a lot of comments from netizens and learned about the ending.
But I still don't have the courage to watch it. I decided to watch it a few days ago. To this day, I feel very distressed. I really feel distressed. They obviously controlled not to shed tears. They are happy, but the tears still flowed down. They wrote for the author and for them in history. Whether it is reality or fantasy, the author's writing is very brilliant. I really like Ningyuan Yinxiang in this kind of writing. . . . . . Everything, the author replied:
There is also a side story. I want to write a side story about an outsider.
