The Five Elements practitioners assigned five colors to the east, south, west, north, and center according to yin-yang and the Five Elements. Each color was paired with a divine beast and a deity: the east was blue-green, paired with the dragon; the west was white, paired with the tiger; the south was vermilion, paired with the bird; the north was black, paired with the tortoise; and yellow was the central color.
