Soldiers Sortie Fanfiction: Passing Years

Limit: 500 characters

Now, to my surprise, I realize that what I've accumulated most in my heart are your flaws.

In my own peculiar way, and in the ways I learned from you.

Once, fate watched us from afar, its eyes full of helplessness.

At last, as if admitting defeat, it threw up its hands and turned away.

In this brief life that passes in the blink of an eye,

Because we were destined to meet.

We spent a lifetime playing a game.

And yet it seemed so short, barely long enough for flowers to bloom.

What changes a life: a year, a day, or a single instant?

Only now do I understand: what cannot be held onto or measured is the passage of time, always moving on in silence.
