[The House in Fata Morgana] A Sweet Surrender

The story is a sweet, fluffy slice-of-life.

A quick introduction for readers unfamiliar with Butterfly's Poison:

In June of Meiji 27, Shigeko Ishikawa, a young woman from a noble family, gave birth to a boy conceived in an affair with her brother, in a secluded villa.

After leaving the boy in the care of servants, Shigeko married Viscount Nonomiya and took his surname.

In Meiji 37, Viscount Nonomiya discovered his wife's secret.

Driven out of his mind, he went to the boy's home and murdered the family of three. He even killed the dog that barked at him.

His crime was buried beneath a blood-red sunset.

But the boy survived, thanks to his foster parents' desperate protection.

Ten years later, he had grown into a handsome young man and risen to the top of the underworld.

In Taisho 2, the young man, using the alias Yoshiki Majima, arrived at the home of Viscount Nonomiya as a gardener. The shadow of death followed in his footsteps, looming over the Nonomiya family.

He swore that this family would pay for its blood debt in blood.

Only, it seems two unexpected things have gotten in his way...?

A true story of brotherly and sisterly love.

I've always wondered what it would be like if Majima had the chance to be someone's big brother. I imagined it, and it was so adorable I couldn't handle it... Of course, I hope you like this sort of thing too, QwQ.

And since this is genuine sibling love, I've introduced a new character. [Yuriko's official characterization can't be changed.]

Our little heroine is sweet and soft, just what a big-brother-obsessed guy could want, apart from being a little mentally challenged. Her overall intelligence is about that of a seven-year-old.

Because she's simple-minded, she's better at seeing through people's hearts.

Aoi remembered her sister once saying that Majima was like a warm, radiant sun.

She'd thought so too at the time, but rather than shining high in a clear sky, he seemed hidden behind the clouds. Only when a gust of wind opened a gap could you see his beautiful light.

Later, though, Aoi thought he was more like a sun devoured by a tengu.

A dark mass in the middle, glowing only with the warmth around its edges. Even veiled by clouds, he could still give the illusion of dazzling brightness.

But even so, he was the sun. He still radiated a warmth people couldn't help but crave.

Enough to make her, a little sunflower, turn toward him.

It's a slow burn, I guess. The story probably won't reach the game's timeline until around chapter twenty.

The goal is to make it understandable even if you haven't played the game!

I was chatting with a friend and suddenly realized that not only am I writing a Butterfly's Poison slice-of-life, I'm also making it a full-length story. I'm really asking for trouble... But I've come this far, so I might as well bravely see it through to the end _(:зゝ∠)_
