The Weak Bottom's Revenge and Rise

Originally titled A Dream in Powder and Paint, this is a story of missing and being missed, meeting and being met, betraying and being betrayed, remembering and being remembered, as well as loving and being loved, hating and being hated. Watch as the blind and frail actor, the delicate and calculating one, uses every scheme and step to turn a white lotus heart into a red poppy, on his bitter road to revenge.

The protagonist, Qing Lan, is a gifted musician who suffers from an eye disease and is nearly blind. Trapped in the cracks between conspiracies, he struggles to survive, holding on to the promise he made as a child to his older brother. After a long journey and years of waiting, he travels through untold hardships to reach you, only to find that everything has changed and all is lost. Every character in this story has a tale of their own, and every tale is filled with love and hate, joy and sorrow, and the pain of parting. When faith is lost and □□ betrays you, can your soul remain untouched by a speck of dust?

Choose your own favorite pairing. There's bound to be one for you. There are many CPs, too, and too many characters to list one by one. I hope you'll savor their sorrows and joys, their heartbreak and happiness.

Qing Lan: Blind qin player, frail and easily seduced, the one who does the receiving in every pairing, scheming, and gone dark (I'm the only one in this story with a golden finger.)

Yan Xueya: Gentle scholar, domestic and devoted (I'm so close to the protagonist, could I be the one?)

Zheng Qingbai: A queenly one who suffered a great upheaval (I'd betray the whole world without hesitation!)

Little Feng: Divine beast reborn, loyal and devoted (I'm the only one with a golden finger~)

Mu Xiang: Sharp-tongued, suspicious emperor who takes the leading role (You ignorant fools, I am always right!)

Mu Zhen: Dashing one who falls in love at first sight (I may not have a golden finger, but I have love~)

Huyan Qingyun: Cunning one in a love-hate relationship (I'm the one who loves you most. How could you bear to make me sad?)

Han Mo: Childhood friend who takes the receiving role and keeps his feelings hidden (Why am I always the one who gets hurt?)

Liu Fang: General who leads troops into battle and takes the leading role (Who can understand the pain of a long-distance relationship?)

Qian Qiu: Guard who takes the leading role and gives everything in silence (I may not say much, but I know how to take the lead.)

Zhi Ya: Cross-dressing courtesan who loves wholeheartedly and takes the receiving role (I love you, I love you, I love you so much...)

Lastly, a word from Wen Xiu: This story has many characters and is a slow burn. It isn't a wish-fulfillment novel with an overpowered golden finger. The characters suffer, both the ones who take the receiving role and those who take the leading role, but I promise the main couples all get happy endings. In other words, someone will still end up with a tragic ending. If you happen to see anything that hits one of your trigger points, please click away right from the start.
