A Mortal Heart Like Water

If we had never met among the countless people in the world,

if I had stayed on my destined path without veering off course for even an instant,

would our ending have been different?

You would still be the all-powerful ruler standing high above the rest,

and I would be just another ordinary person in the vast sea of humanity,

so ordinary I wouldn't even deserve to brush past you.

And yet, we left deep marks on each other's lives.

Even forgetting each other would be a luxury.
