Once upon a time, there was a mountain. On the mountain stood a temple. In the temple lived an old monk, a senior monk, a young monk, and a fox spirit... Wait, it seems something strange has snuck in.
Repaying a kindness is hard, repaying a life-saving kindness is harder, and repaying a monk for saving your life is especially difficult. The fox is at a loss over how to repay the monk. Tasty food? Nice clothes? Comfortable lodging? Useful things? The fox racks its brains, but not only does it fail to repay the kindness, it repeatedly causes the monk to break his vows. Forget it. Monk, why don't you first return to secular life, and then we can discuss whether repaying you the traditional way, by offering myself to you, is feasible?
