A post-80s author's firsthand account of an unforgettable high school romance.
Han Meimei, the protagonist, has been a top student for years, but finds herself torn between studying and falling in love. She meets her first love, Li Lei, by chance, and they hit it off. But when a teacher forcibly breaks up another couple at school, she is too afraid to carry on, and they part on bad terms. Later, she meets another great love, Wang Xiangyang. After much inner turmoil, she bravely begins a relationship with him. To avoid their teachers, they embark on a sweet, thrilling romance at school. But the teachers discover them and do everything they can to keep them apart. With no other choice, Han Meimei decides to give up her studies and leave town with Wang Xiangyang... After many twists and turns, the two finally persevere and go on to live happily ever after.
The only purpose of writing this is to use my own experiences to expose the problems that objectively exist in China's secondary education system. The failures of exam-oriented education and its widespread disregard for human nature should give us all cause for reflection.
