Naruto Genderbend: Naruto Becomes Hanai?!

Jiraiya's The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi, written when he was one of the Legendary Three, inspired Minato Namikaze to name his son after its male protagonist. Kushina, standing beside him, asked, "What if it's a girl?" Our Fourth Hokage scratched his head. "How about using the name of a heroine from one of Teacher Jiraiya's other novels?" Kushina's red hair bristled. "Aren't all that man's other works unsuitable reading?" So Minato chose "Hana," the name of a strong kunoichi who had originally been intended to appear in The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi, as a backup name for their daughter.
