Shanghai Legend: Orchids by the Shore

She was born in Shanghai during the Republican era. Her name came from the line "By the banks, fragrant orchids and lush green grass grow," from the Record of Yueyang Tower. She should have been a young lady from a wealthy family, but fate had other plans. She lived at the very bottom of society, endured endless bullying, and through a twist of fate took the place of her good sister. She would take firm control of her own destiny and defend what was hers by any means necessary. Even if she could start over, her choices would not change. She seemed heartless, but had a heart after all. He was one of Shanghai's most powerful men: handsome and debonair, yet tender as water. He was calculating, but utterly devoted. Once he fell in love, he would never let go. No one knows where love begins, but once it does, it runs deep. At their first meeting, she and he caught a breathtaking glimpse of each other, yet they were destined to love one another for a lifetime. Born into a chaotic age and caught in a crisis of identity, what fate awaits them? There will be no one-man-with-many-women or one-woman-with-many-men relationships in this novel.
