Growing Up is a fan fiction based on The Adventures of Yan Bibiyan by Elin Pelin of Bulgaria. It is not an original work, but a derivative work created by the author through adapting and expanding some of the original's plot and characters. The story's framework and character designs are largely drawn from the original versions of two fairy tales.
Most of the ideas, characters, and plot in this story come from the Chinese edition of The Adventures of Yan Bibiyan, translated by Yan Xinchang.
A small portion of the ideas, characters, and plot in this story come from the Chinese edition of The Child in the Tin Can by Christine Nostlinger of Austria, translated by Ren Rongrong.
