The Great Physician's Sincerity

For the rest of my life, I ask for neither riches beyond measure nor a love that lasts until our hair turns white. All I ask is to practice medicine for a lifetime. The difficulty of mastering classical prescriptions has been known since ancient times. To study the art of medicine, one must explore its sources extensively and apply oneself diligently without tiring. When a great physician treats the sick, they must calm their mind and steady their purpose, free of desire or expectation. A great physician should quiet the mind and look inward, neither distracted nor confused. A physician must not speak carelessly of right and wrong, nor boast of their own virtue.
