Dear Mr. Darcy [Pride and Prejudice]

No angst, no angst, no angst. The author may not be very smart, but the heroine is.

P.S. This is set in an alternate world. Please don’t nitpick the historical details.

Silly version of the blurb: Once upon a time, there was a prince named Darcy who wanted to marry a real princess. One stormy night, a young woman named Emma knocked on the door of his castle, soaked through and looking miserable. Prince Darcy helped her and let her stay in a comfortable room. Secretly, he had someone place a pea beneath twenty mattresses on her bed.

The next day, Emma handed Prince Darcy a back-support belt. “Sleeping with so many mattresses can give you a herniated disc. Better get that treated sooner rather than later.” Prince Darcy blushed at her sincere smile. Why did I insist on finding a real princess? I should find a back-support belt saleswoman, someone just like Emma.

From then on, Prince Darcy and Emma lived happily ever after.

I thought love meant meeting someone who fit my standards. I never expected it to mean meeting someone who would change my standards until they became just like her.
