[Companionship is the most enduring declaration of love.]
The series of developments at the beginning that don't follow the original story came from a spur-of-the-moment idea I had today: what if Ruocai's mother were reborn in a parallel world? But as soon as I started typing, I thought that I already had plenty of projects for my lifetime. I might as well write something short.
Ruocai is far too saintly, but I think that, judging by her answer, the two of them have settled their debt to each other. She accompanied him in this life, and they won't meet again in the next.
Yamabuki Otome's departure plunged Nura Rihan into darkness, and Ruocai was the light that saved him.
So how could Nura Rihan, who treasured Ruocai above all else, possibly give up this warm sunshine?
I won't deny that the original story had plenty of ambiguity suggesting a Rihan-Otome pairing.
But in my eyes, once you miss your chance, it's gone.
That's why I wrote this.
