Is He Not the King's Subject?

In his previous life, he doted on a beauty, never realizing that deadly intent lurked beneath her lovely skin. When he was surrounded on all sides, the general he had always looked down on risked his life to save him, and ultimately died. Before dying, the general confessed his feelings: he had always been in love with the king. After escaping danger, the king promptly had the beauty executed, then went back to enjoying the company of his three thousand consorts night after night. When he died, he opened his eyes and found himself back in his youth. At court, the general was kneeling and refusing to rise, demanding that the dangerous beauty be executed. The king gladly agreed, then asked the general what he wished for. The general replied that he wished only for peace in the land and a tranquil realm. So the king ordered him to guard the frontier, forbidding him from returning to the capital without an imperial decree. Then he held a grand selection of beauties to fill the harem. That night, someone appeared in his dream, furious, and told him: In his previous life, the general died for you, unable to have you. In this life, you should indulge his every wish to make it up to him. He sneered: I am the ruler and he is my subject. Serving me with his life is his duty. Granting his wish because I appreciate his loyalty is simply my good mood. What makes him think he has the right to demand compensation from me?
