Warring States in Another World

There is a world where, once every fifty years, Heaven bestows a blessing upon the world. Those who receive it gain special abilities. There was a time when the land was in turmoil, warlords rose with weapons in hand, and conflict raged everywhere. Then came an age when two heroes shone upon the world and brought it together once more… He received the blessing and memories of three lifetimes, setting him apart from the turbulent Warring States. He had no desire to rule the land, wishing only to protect the people under his care, uphold propriety and loyalty, and follow the greater good. Yet he could not avoid being drawn into the chaos of the Warring States. He despised greedy, ambitious people most of all. Anyone who tried to seize the lands he protected would have the hand they dared extend cut off. But he never expected that a lifelong nemesis would turn those claws on him. He was ambitious, determined to contend for supremacy over the land, and powerful enough to sweep across it. People believed no one could defeat him, yet that time he encountered someone who stood in his way. Their evenly matched battle halted his advance and unsettled his heart, forcing him to take another look at someone he had always dismissed as seemingly frail and useless. Since you believe so deeply in the greater good, then I shall claim it for myself. I offer you the world as my bride price. Will you accept?
