Since 2005, when Hu Ge began spoofing the blockbuster The Promise, China's parody scene has flourished. All kinds of spoofing techniques have appeared in video, comics, audio, and other fields. The genre reached its peak with the TV series My Own Swordsman, which set modern ways of thinking in an ancient world. Parodies have kept appearing ever since, but the novel scene remains frozen in time. These works mainly rely on absurd, nonsensical insertions, hilarious dialogue and situations, and incisive revelations of the underlying truth. Offering a break from heavy reading, they give readers a different, lighter experience and overturn traditional ways of reading, inviting them to explore the ideas behind parody in an atmosphere of boundless fun.
