I Picked Up a Mermaid

Mu Sheng was born a Daoist acolyte, blessed with extraordinary talent. Yet after seventeen years of cultivating the Dao in this Age of Dharma Decline, he had accomplished nothing. So after his elders passed away, faced with a sect in utter disarray, Mu Sheng simply stole the Life Lamp from the secret realm and retreated into the mortal world. Then, in a glorious career move, he joined the residents' committee and became a grassroots worker on the front lines of public service. His daily routine involved chasing cats and dogs, fixing security doors, and unclogging drains, along with checking in on a disabled bachelor living upstairs in his building. He thought he'd just live by the book, see his parents off, then figure out how to get through his own long two-hundred-year lifespan. But he never expected to accidentally find the last key to escaping the Age of Dharma Decline. One foot in the mortal world, one in the immortal sect. If one learns the Dao at dawn, can one die at dusk? Theme: Live well. A turning point may come tomorrow.
