This story connects several Sword and Fairy installments in chronological order, excluding Sword and Fairy 6, and brings in Gujian as well.
The road to immortality is long, and the path of alchemy is even more arduous.
Ning Zhen joins a major alchemy sect (?) and is bestowed with a Daoist title. With the sect's vast resources, her lifespan keeps growing, and she eventually attains the Dao.
But much later, she discovers that the values of the world she lives in seem a little off.
The Qionghua Sect next door especially: instead of focusing on cultivation, they only care about ascending as an entire sect.
Even her good friends in the Shu Mountain Sect are plagued by trouble, with the Demon Locking Tower constantly on the verge of collapse.
In short, this is the story of an apparently incredibly powerful Grandmaster of alchemy, quietly watching the sorrowful love stories of the Nuwa clan's descendants across generations, and bringing a sword fanatic home along the way.
The dream of roaming the world with sword in hand has faded, but Sword and Fairy will live on forever.
