He would always run to the temple and sit there all night without saying a word. He wasn't afraid; he simply gazed at the Buddha statue, almost as if in prayer. He would just keep looking, as though if he stared long enough, some kind of miracle might happen. He knew perfectly well that nothing would happen. Everything would stay the same as always; perhaps the only thing that changed was time.
Someone asked him why. He merely lowered his eyes and pressed his lips together, falling silent, pale with sadness. Yes, why? When he knew nothing would happen, what was he still clinging to...
And yet, he felt this was the most right thing he had ever done. He had met that person, met those people, and experienced those things…
He's being a little greedy, isn't he? That won't do. People will hate him:
"I can do laundry, I can cook, and I can clean. I can do anything. Could you please not make me leave…"
