[Crossover] The Bystander

In this life, we are always involuntarily led onto thorny paths, covered in blood and battered with wounds. The Buddha says that without attachment, there is no hurt. If you were destined from the start to be an outsider, a mere onlooker, how could you be hurt? After heart-wrenching pain, tears, love, and hate, everything becomes nothing but emptiness after the long years have passed. Living in this world is like being in a forest of thorns. If the heart does not stir, a person does not act recklessly; without acting, there is no hurt. But if the heart stirs, a person acts recklessly, wounding the body and hurting the bones, and so experiences all the suffering in the world., Buddhist scripture
