They are all dazzling legends from an unknown world, shining their light upon the fragile lives of this world. They wield their swords for the truth, invincible wherever they go. Fearless, they waver between love and the law, then face the collapse of the entire world with pride amid the flames of war.
When dawn suddenly appears on a horizon long unchanged,
When a rainbow blooms in a blue sky that has been cloudless for a hundred thousand years,
When the gentle sea beneath the sun gives rise to a tsunami,
When a mild breeze sweeps up into a storm,
Everything becomes a legend hard to find, born and gone in a blaze of glory.
And what does all this have to do with my story?
Without a trace of longing in my eyes, with my heart uncertain as it sinks and rises once more in a distant dynasty, I drift up into the sky, brushing past a few splendid clouds.
This is a story about a knight and a princess, but it is a beautiful fairy tale shattered by nightmares.
Three years in the making, with three major revisions, this may still not be the most perfect final draft. Perhaps some descriptions seem naive to you, who have read so much; perhaps some of the feelings I had back then have faded, and some of the companions who were with me then have gone far away. But I have kept this story, preserving a dream of a distant, splendid dynasty.
We walk in the warmth of the sun, learning the laws and the light.
We embrace the moon's sorrow, seeking the truth and the darkness.
And so,
let us watch quietly from the sidelines!
