She smiled faintly, then let her gaze drift down from the boy's face to the golden object on his chest.
"You really..."
Her words stopped abruptly, making the boy frown in confusion. He tried to find an answer in the girl's intent gaze, but instead only grew more puzzled.
He couldn't understand the emotions in her eyes. That gaze, soft as water, held nostalgia, sorrow, and... regret?
"Thank you, Muto."
The wind died and the curtains fell still. Sunlight spread across the girl, as if she had crossed a thousand years...
