This story isn't a sequel to the show; you can think of it as something that happens in a parallel world. Also, aside from the Ouyang, Shangguan, Sima, and Huangfu characters and their parents and children, everyone else is newly created. To be clear, Nongyue and Sima Changfeng are not related by blood. In short, apart from Ouyang Mingri's looks, you can treat this as a completely new story.
