May You Leave as Free as the Wind

Leaving

is not sobbing your heart out and shouting that you're going.

People like that usually end up quietly cleaning up the mess for you.

True ruthlessness

is putting on your favorite trench coat

on a sunny afternoon,

packing your bags,

and setting off alone on a trip no one knows about.

Then turning around and walking away

without a trace of regret.

To those of you still struggling,

may you leave as freely as the wind.
