A few years ago, I wrote a story about Flay and Kira, but I was too young back then, and it was full of cringe-worthy Mary Sue tropes. I couldn't stand reading it myself, so I gave up on it.
But this pair has always stayed in my heart.
I like Lacus too, but somehow I always felt there was something missing in the way she and Kira got along.
However,
Gundam's setting is so vast and complicated. I know my limits, and I don't have the confidence to handle a world like that. I can't think of a good way to resolve the conflict between Coordinators and Naturals, either.
So this story focuses on romance, while the course of the war stays mostly the same as in the original.
If you're hoping to see Flay slay her way through the story, this one won't deliver.
I just want to make up for Flay's regrets.
Who hasn't been young and reckless? Even Gu Li, who is so proud, once said that everyone deserves one chance to be forgiven.
