"My name is Bucky."
"Oh... Bucky."
"Not Benji!"
"I said Bucky."
One-line summary: An everyday story about Bucky and an oblivious, scatterbrained bystander who loves to watch the drama unfold.
Please note:
1. My writing is average, and I'm no good at writing blurbs. Thanks to everyone who keeps reading.
2. My brain has about as much capacity as a troll's. This story doesn't have a huge background; it's just a romance! It mainly follows the Captain America movies, though I might occasionally get silly and throw in elements from other movies, like Groot.
3. It's lighthearted. The heroine is brave but has low EQ, and she's the sort who looks after one thing while neglecting everything else. That's just how she is, woof woof woof.
4. Bucky is a silly, sweet cinnamon roll!!
That's all.
Announcement: Some time ago, a reader asked on my new story whether I would update this one, and asked me to post an announcement. I thought about it for a while and decided I should.
The main reason I suddenly stopped updating was that someone felt the heroine's personality was unrealistic. I think I mentioned in the author's notes early on that she never had a formal education. All her knowledge came from Mr. Waters teaching her. I also mentioned in an extra that when Vera was three, she began fleeing with Waters, who had betrayed Hydra. She basically had no friends growing up, and I've also hinted several times that she's not good at communicating.
Also, this story takes place in 2007, the timeline of Captain America 2. Mr. Waters was born in Britain in 1932, and his upbringing came from an era when relationships between men and women were still viewed rather conservatively. Given that he devoted his life to science, I think it's perfectly reasonable that he neglected to teach the heroine about romance. Britain was more conservative than America in those days, and her education focused more on technical subjects. Waters himself was an old man who had never been in love, so there was no reason to expect him to teach the heroine how to be an expert at romance. Like her, everything he knew came from books.
I always thought Bucky wouldn't trust someone else for no reason. I felt he'd be more likely to trust someone innocent, easy to understand, and gentle, because they seemed harmless. Clearly, I failed to write that convincingly. I realized I couldn't handle this kind of heroine, so I stopped working on the story. After a while, it became an abandoned project... OTZ...
Will I ever pick this story up again? That may depend on fate... I hope that one day, when my writing has improved, I'll be able to return to it. That's all. I'm truly sorry to all the readers who have been waiting, and thank you for your support.
