[Naruto] Waiting for Your Return

I'm a tree, one that has lived deep in the forest for ages, unnoticed by anyone.

I'm a demon tree.

I've thought about it for a long time, and decided to write this story.

I'd actually tried writing a story like this before, but I revised it again and again, felt it wasn't good enough, and gave up to start over.

I want to write a gentle, tender story about Itachi.

Take is gentle. His love for Itachi is so gentle, so delicate, and so humble. He can't do much for Itachi, but he'll do everything he can. And because he can't do much for Itachi, he doesn't ask Itachi to do anything for him, either. Itachi can't see him and doesn't even know that a life like his exists. Take doesn't mind. Just being able to see Itachi is enough for him. When Itachi doesn't come, he waits. If he can't wait any longer, he goes looking. If he still can't find him, he keeps searching. If he can never find him, then he'll search forever.

Itachi truly doesn't know that Take is alive, but he does feel that Take has a soul. He finds peace by Take's side, so he comes. Whenever he arrives beside Take, he feels calm and comfortable. For Take, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Take is content simply knowing that Itachi needs him.

That's why, even though the ending is sad, I don't find it heartbreaking.

For Take, this is all he ever wanted from life.
