Yun Shu gradually grew despondent, feeling that life was worse than death. Her anxiety, crying, and even suicide attempts put her family through torment. After a doctor diagnosed her with depression, medication stopped her agitation, but left her dull and sluggish. She cried silently and often thought of dying.
Through the love of family, romance, and friendship, Yun Shu slowly began to recover. Then she endured the loss of a friend and her father, giving her a new perspective on life and death. In the end, Yun Shu overcame her depression.
In her acceptance speech, Yun Shu said, "Depression was merely an interlude in my life's journey. The rest of my life will be even more wonderful!"
Depression, life and death, love and desire: every facet of life is here.
