[Noragami] The Meaning of a Smile

Blurb: "I don't understand what value humans have, or even what the meaning of my own existence is. I am a calamity god, born to kill." "Humans are indeed fragile. Their lives are brief and fleeting, like cherry blossoms. But I envy them, because with the short lives they have, they can live forever in the memories of the people they love." You know this is only a longing from someone on the other side, yet you still yearn for it: pastoral scenery, mountains and rivers, and the simple yet subtle happiness of smoke curling up from the chimneys. "Drawing your sword isn't only for killing. It can also be for protecting someone. There will surely be someone you want to draw your sword for." That year, that month, beneath the cherry tree, you turned and smiled at me, becoming the salvation of my life. "I wish I could become human. Even if my life were limited, other people could remember me for the rest of their lives. Hey, Yato, let's make a promise. In our next lives, let's be reborn as humans, okay?" I can't forget the sight of you lying in a pool of blood, still wearing your familiar smile as you told me: "In the next life, if only... I could become human..." After several hundred years of twists and turns, if we meet again in a sea of people, will you have become a strong human, happy and ready to forget me at any moment? "You call yourself a god? You're just some strange man in an old tracksuit..." "I did hear your wish. Asakawa Juri, you are a person of fate (five-yen person)."
