It has been three years since the founding of the Great Qing Dynasty, and Xiao Qingyu has been dead for two. Zhang Jinya has never been willing to forgive Fang Junqian, believing that he was responsible for the death of his master, the Peerless Young Master.
At sixteen, Zhang Jinya insisted on leaving the Great Qing Dynasty, taking his pipa south to the Jiangli Kingdom. He wanted to improve his pipa skills, and to leave behind a place that held so much sorrow.
On the banks of the Li River, he stood watching as a young man from the Jiangli Kingdom rowed over. With a bamboo pole, the boy set a fateful bond in motion.
Two years later, to fulfill Xiao Qingyu's wish of uniting all under heaven, Fang Junqian led his troops south, determined to bring the Jiangli Kingdom into the territory of the Great Qing Dynasty.
With the Jiangli Kingdom on the brink of ruin, what fate awaits Zhang Jinya and the young man?
After finishing Qing Qian, I kept wanting to write a story about Zhang Jinya, about the people he met and the things he experienced throughout his life.
On a whim, I decided to start writing.
